On the heels of a regional trade mission to Canada, Governor Larry Hogan has announced that a manufacturer of precision printed circuit boards will open a new manufacturing operation in Maryland. The Ontario, Canada-based CTI America Corp. expects to invest $10 million in the new facility and create at least 80 jobs. The company is working with the Maryland Department of Commerce to finalize a location for its new manufacturing site, which the company expects to have up and running within the next 12 months.
“Maryland is the ideal U.S. location to expand our company, with its strong focus on innovation and high-growth industries,” said CTI America executive Tom Ryan. “We are looking forward to taking advantage of Maryland’s strategic location and wealth of companies in the cybersecurity, aerospace and defense, and life sciences industries, which will open up new markets and partners for us.”
CTI America is a division of Circuit Tech Inc., which is a leading manufacturer of high-quality precision printed circuit boards offering rigid, rigid-flex, and multi-layer flex technology. Circuit Tech services defense, space, aerospace, medical equipment, industrial network and telecommunication market segments.
Governor Hogan toured Circuit-Tech Inc.’s facility in Markham, Ontario with co-owner and Executive Vice President Michael Burmi and Director of Business Development Larry Galbraith.
“I enjoyed meeting with Circuit Tech officials today and touring their impressive headquarters, and we are thrilled that they have chosen Maryland to locate their new U.S. manufacturing facility,” said Governor Hogan. “CTI America’s new facility and the 80 new jobs it brings to our state underscores our administration’s commitment to making Maryland the ideal U.S. destination for global companies.”
“We’re proud that CTI America has decided to locate in Maryland, which has repeatedly been praised as one of the most innovative states in the nation,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “This new facility demonstrates that Maryland has become a destination for manufacturers from abroad who want to secure a place in the U.S. market.”
Later today, Governor Hogan will join Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser for a meeting with the Province of Ontario’s Premier Kathleen Wynne, where they will discuss strengthening the relationship between Ontario and the Capital Region. The group will then attend a reception at the residence of U.S. Consul General Juan Alsace.
